The Force Awakens . . . Everyone to Come to the Movies

I’m not usually one to go out to see a movie on opening day.  There tends to be far too many people and my latent claustrophobia usually threatens to make an appearance.  But, I made an exception for Star Wars the Force Awakens.  We had awesome plans for this dinner and movie night with my brother and sister-in-law, definitely making up for my other worries.

We got to the theater an hour ahead of time.  As you can imagine, excitement ran high . . .

. . . although Obi-Wan Kenobi was very solemnly holding his place at the front of the line into the theater.   You could tell it was serious business.  We trudged to the back of the line, all the while hoping we could get seats together.

We didn’t have to wait in line too long, they soon let us file in and sit down.  We did get seats together, and tried waiting patiently for the movie to start.  My patience lasted all of 5 minutes before I was continually asking Jimmy “what time is it now?”  He tried to dissuade me by turning off his phone, but I just made him turn it back on.  Finally the previews began.  As the theater began to darken, a loud male voice from the back of the theater screamed “I’m so GEEKING out right now!”  It was met with laughs and an enthusiastic “me too” reply from another eager fan.

I have to say, the movie was really good.  I totally give it 5 stars and that could be solely based on the fact that it held my attention the whole time.  But I also thought the story was good and I loved new and old characters alike.  I also give the opening night festive atmosphere the thumbs up.  While I myself did not participate in the clapping each time a familiar character appeared or emit sounds of joy when the resistance army made an advance, it did make the experience even more entertaining.

If you have plans to see it, I think you will not be disappointed.  Just make sure to get there in plenty of time to get yourself a good seat.  And definitely make sure you go to the bathroom prior to the movie, you won’t want to miss any of the good parts!  May the force be with you 🙂
