7 Ways to Enjoy a Roadtrip from Las Vegas, NV to Oakhurst, CA

After a late-night, delayed-on-the-tarmac, rowdy-person flight, the last thing on your to do list is an 8-hour car ride to your almost final destination.  So here are some ways to make it fun . . .

1.  Get up early and enjoy oddly suggestive plated food at a great local eatery with old friends.  Thanks Kitchen Table.

2. Pay attention to the scenery along the way.

3. Stop at roadside attractions.

4. Visit a ghost town with a strange name – Zzyzx

5. Enjoy the flora and fauna (or lack of flora and some fauna).  Sure, we mainly look for birds, but these prong horns will do when in the desert.

6. Try to get a decent looking selfie while relaxing in the back seat (as you can see that didn’t work out too well).

7. When all else fails . . . There is always Candy Crush!

This is How They Repay You

Dog ownership can be so rewarding.  They are loyal, lovable, fun and cuddly.

Yet there are times when there is a disconnect.  You think you do everything right and still something goes a little wrong.

This was one such night.  Cheyenne had her walks, had her food, had her loves and yet systematically took each piece of junk mail (one piece at a time) laying on the coffee table and shred into little bits.

Granted, I sat there and watched her do it, so perhaps I have parenting skill issues.  However, in my defense, I really thought she would respect me enough to stop.  Or at least get bored with it.

Oh well . . . live and learn.  Cheyenne still gets, her walks, her food and her love.  But she does not get access to mail anymore.
