Streets of Copenhagen

Goddag!  Wow – Copenhagen is such a beautiful city!

We have just spent 2 really nice days seeing some sights.  Yesterday started with a little rain but we didn’t let that stop us.  We just decided to start out in the National Museum. What an awesome place and free of charge.

While the museum is full of tons of historic stuff, here is where Jimmy and I ended up.

PhotoBooth
Heroine PhotoBooth

Young Japanese create visual stores about themselves digitally and on stickers in purikura – photobooths often located in gaming arcades.  The photobooths perform a kind of digital plastic surgery based on Japanese ideals of female beauty.  The eyes are made bigger, the skin lighter and smoother, the nose smaller, and the head rounder.

When you are in the photobooth, they tell you how to pose.  There were outfits we could have tried on too but that seemed a little over the top.  Then at the end, you can add things like glasses, hearts, and kisses to the picture.  We look great don’t we?

When the rain finally stops we do a little walking to see the town.

Afterwards a great tour of the city by taking a canal tour (one of the best ways to get an overview of the entire city).

Then lunch in Nyhavn . . .

We end the with a stop by the royal palaces and saw a brief changing of the guard.

Today we started with a hearty breakfast (after a quick run) and then we headed back out to enjoy some sunshine while it lasted.

Tomorrow we are on to Hven!  Can’t wait.

  1. What a beautiful city, indeed! Looks easy to tour. (Too bad that Hamlet couldn’t have just chilled and enjoyed the country, he wouldn’t have had to worry about whether “to be ” or not. I’d like to be in Denmark sometime.

  2. I love seeing Copenhagen through your eyes. I don’t know if I’m happy or sad that Dennis didn’t find that photo booth. This pic are great.
